Centenary Tank Tour Lecture and Film Show

Andrew Blow (Filmmaker) and Richard Pullen (Military Historian) tell the local story of the world's first fighting tanks, invented in Lincoln in World War One.

Our Tank Tour event at Skellingthorpe on July 7th was unusual because it was a one-off fundraiser for an RAF project!

In World War II, outlying areas of the parish of Skellingthorpe were home to the nearest bomber base to the city of Lincoln.

RAF Skellingthorpe was hugely important to No 5 Group of Bomber Command. Its two squadrons, 50 and 61, finished the war high in the table of raids made. 50 Squadron made the third highest number of raids of any Squadron, and 61 Squadron second.
